What Counts as a Plumbing Emergency
Not every plumbing problem needs a midnight phone call, but some absolutely do. A burst supply line, a sewer backup pushing into your living space, or a water heater that has started leaking near an electrical panel are situations where every passing minute adds to the damage and the cost. Residents across Alamosa, CO deal with aging municipal lines, seasonal pipe stress, and older in-home plumbing that was never built for today's usage, which makes true emergencies more common here than many homeowners expect.
Our team treats emergency calls differently from routine appointments. The moment you describe the problem, we start narrowing down the likely cause and prepping the right equipment before a technician even leaves the shop, so the visit itself is faster and more focused.
Six Situations We Get Called Out For Most
Burst or Split Pipe
Sudden gushing water usually means a pipe has split under pressure or freeze stress, and it needs a shutoff and repair fast.
Sewage Backup
Water or waste backing into tubs and drains signals a blocked or collapsed sewer line that needs immediate attention.
Water Heater Leak
A leaking tank near gas lines or wiring is a safety issue, not just an inconvenience, and warrants a same-hour visit.
No Water Pressure
A sudden total loss of pressure can point to a main line break that is draining your whole system.
Frozen or Cracked Line
Cold snaps in Alamosa, CO can crack exposed pipes, and a cracked line left alone will fail completely once it thaws.
Gas Smell Near Fixtures
Any suspected gas odor near a water heater or appliance connection is treated as an immediate priority dispatch.
What To Do Right Now, Before We Arrive
Shut off the main water valve
Locate your main shutoff, usually near the water meter or where the line enters the house, and turn it fully off to stop the flow.
Cut power to affected areas if water is near outlets
If water is pooling near an outlet or panel, switch off power at the breaker for that area rather than risking contact.
Move valuables and furniture away from the water
Clear the immediate area of anything absorbent or electronic while you wait for a technician to arrive.
Call us and describe what you're seeing
Tell us where the water is coming from and how fast, so we can prepare the right parts and equipment in advance.
